01 : SANKHU - NAGARKOT ( APPROX. 4 HRS.)
Drive along the busy road of Kathmandu via Boudhanath (where the largest Stupa is located) inbound the Kathmandu valley and reach to one of the oldest Newari towns at Sankhu in about an hour. After sorting out trekking gears, we commence to hike diverting east along the rugged motor- able road along the terraced fields and some typical houses. Enroute, we will see an important pilgrimage site and its ‘SALI NADI’ (holiest river) where the female devotees gather once in a year during January - February about a month to pay their homage to SWASTANI MA (spouse of god Mahadeva) for their husband’s Long Life and Prosperity. Thereafter, the trail climbs gradually uphill on a eroded trail onto the Pass called Katike Bhanjyang at 1900 m, and then reach Nagarkot at 2175 m, which is a famous touristic zone. From Nagarkot, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Himalayan Range such as Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lhakpa, Phurbi Cho Oyu, Gauri Shanker, Thamserku, Pumori including Mt. Everest at a bulk distant. After enjoying the splendid mountain views, then we drive back to Kathmandu, which takes about one and half hour.
02 : CHANGU NARAYAN - NAGARKOT (APPROX. 3 HRS.)
This hike starts from Changu Narayan situated east of Kathmandu, approx. 20 kilometres. This is a very famous Narayan temple. It is said to have been built by king Hari Dutta Barma in 323 AD and said to be the oldest temple entire of the Kathmandu valley. After breakfast, we drive to the hike starting point for about 45 minutes from your hotel. After visiting the temple complex, we start to walk along the rugged trail observing many typical houses. The entire trail goes almost on a fairly level through pine, and firs forest which offers such a brilliant views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lhakpa, Choba Bhamre with a beautiful scenery of Bhaktapur city to the east and Sankhu to the north. After about 3 hours walk from Changu Narayan, we arrive to Nagarkot Bhanjyang and will be picked up for Nagarkot at 2175 m, which is a famous touristic zone. From Nagarkot, one can enjoy a panoramic view of Himalayan Range such as Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lhakpa, Phurbi Cho Oyu, Gauri Shanker, Thamserku, Pumori including Mt. Everest at a bulk distant. After enjoying the panoramic views & having Lunch, we drive back to Kathmandu, which takes another one & half hour.
03 : CHAMPADEVI (APPROX. 3 HRS.)
Champadevi, situated at an elevation of 2285 m south - west of Kathmandu, is a pilgrimage site of both Buddhists and Hindus as it has both Buddhist Stupa and Hindu shrines. Many pilgrims visit this place on full moon day. After breakfast at hotel, we drive for about an hour to place called Pharping/16 km south of Kathmandu which lies on the way to Dakshinkali Temple with packed lunch box. From Pharping we start to hike gradually up hill through pine forested area for about 3 hours to Champadevi. The view of central and western Himalayan Range are magnificent. After strolling around for sometime and enjoying the breathtaking views, we will come down following the same trail to Pharping for about 2 hrs. and drive back to Kathmandu.
04 : PHULCHOWKI (APPROX. 4 HRS.)
Phulchowki at an elevation of 2782 m is the highest hill situated in the south of Kathmandu Valley. This is one of the most beautiful hiking in terms of vegetation. After breakfast, we drive to a place called Godawari, which is located 14 kms east of Kathmandu for approx. 45 minutes with packed lunch box. From Godavari we start to hike gradually uphill along the rugged motor-able road through sub-tropical thick forest for about four hrs. The magnificent view of Himalayan ranges and the Kathmandu valley is breath-taking on a clear day. After enjoying few hours having lunch, we will come down following the same trail to Godavari within two and half hours and drive back to Kathmandu.
05 : NAMOBOUDHA (APPROX. 5 HRS.)
After breakfast at hotel, we drive for about one and half hours to a place called Dhapasi, 35 km east of Kathmandu via an ancient Newari town Panuati with packed lunch box. From Dhapasi the trail heads north-east and the trail becomes narrow as we move further. We cross on a suspension bridge and pass through many small villages to huge rice fields which gives you a chance to see how Nepalese People plant and harvest the crop (during on the appropriate season). The trail goes steep uphill for about an hour before to reach Namoboudha. Strolling sometimes around here, we will drive to Kathmandu via Dhulikhel in about one & half hour .This Dhulikhel Namobuddha day hiking is best available day hiking trip in Kathmandu valley with visit to one of the famous Buddhist site in a day.
06 : SHIVAPURI (APPROX. 5 HRS.)
Shivapuri situated at an elevation of 2563 m north of Kathmandu is the second highest hill around Kathmandu valley. Bagdwar, source of holy river Bagmati is located near by Shivapuri. After breakfast at hotel, we drive to Muhan Pani/10 km north of Kathmandu for about 30 minutes. After checking the formalities at the Shivapuri entrance gate, we slowly enter to the Shivapuri watershed and wildlife area. We commence our hike from the southern boundary of the area where the army check post is located. The trail goes along the rugged motor-able road through pine and cherry forest up to Nagi Gompa within one and half hours, where a nunnery monastery is located. Some 200 nuns are leaving here who practice Buddhism. Also many foreign people will frequently visit this place for mediation. Beyond the monastery, the trail goes steep uphill through the oak, rhododendron and bamboo forest for another 03 hours. From the top one can enjoy the long sight of snowy mountains such as Ganesh Himal, Langtang-Lirung and Dorje Lakpa and we take a short cut downhill trail to Budhanilkantha within about two and half hours and drive back to Kathmandu.
07 : KAKANI TO BHANJYANG (APPROX. 5 HRS.)
This is an interesting hike through oak, rhododendron and pine forest. After breakfast at hotel, drive to Kakani (2073m)/ 32km north of Kathmandu in about an hour. From Kakani the trail leads to the east along with graveled motor-able road. The entire trail goes on a level path where can be seen numerous picnic spots and small village en route. We hike for about three hours to Bhanjyang with about 20 minutes steep climb before we reach there. A few hours strolling around here with having packed lunch, we will retrace the same way back to Kakani in about two and half hours and drive back.
